With the New York Mets, Edwin Diaz hopes to sign a long term deal

As the New York Mets' closer, Edwin Diaz is having a superb season.

He is hoping that this won't be his final season in Queens because he will be a free agent after the season.

The New York Post's Mark Sanchez quoted Diaz as saying, "If they give me the chance, I'd love to stay here."

"My family enjoys living in New York. With the team here, I feel at ease. My coworkers are good.

Looking forward to finding out if I can stay here, he continued.

With a 1.83 ERA and 18 saves, Diaz is enjoying an outstanding season.

In addition, he has struck 68 of the 136 batters he has faced this season, for a staggering 17.8 K/9 rate.
